Pooja had married Om Prakash in a love marriage against her family's wishes eight to nine months ago. According to the account, her family sent four men to Bengaluru to forcibly bring her back from the couple's home.
The men allegedly grabbed Pooja and sped away in a white Hyundai SUV. After hearing her cries, locals chased the vehicle. The driver, apparently panicked during the pursuit, crashed into vehicles and two-wheelers around 8 pm, injuring six people.
Among those injured were nine-year-old Yashika and 57-year-old Jayalakshmi. Jayalakshmi is now in the ICU.
Residents stopped the SUV by pelting it with stones before pulling the men out of the vehicle. Pooja then explained that her family opposed her inter-caste marriage to Om Prakash.
Police arrested three of the men, while the driver remains at large. The incident has brought attention to the circumstances surrounding Pooja's alleged forced abduction and the crash that left six people injured.
